The short answer

NASCAR has published the clinching scenarios for Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where all three national series crown a champion. Kyle Larson needs nine points on Sunday to take a third Cup title, whatever any other driver does.

NASCAR said champions in all three of its national series will be decided at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend, with Championship Weekend back in South Florida for the first time since 2019. The Craftsman Truck Series goes first on Friday, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday and the Cup Series on Sunday.

Cup Series: Larson close to a third title

NASCAR said Kyle Larson requires only nine points at Homestead and the result of every other driver is irrelevant. Eight stage points would be enough, and a finish in the top three of Stage 1 would seal it early. With no stage points he would need 28th place or better. He has also won every possible tiebreaker, NASCAR said.

Christopher Bell has to win the race and collect 14 stage points, or 13 plus the Xfinity Fastest Lap point, to stay alive, depending on Larson's total, and he needs a top-eight finish in Stage 1. Denny Hamlin has to win with 17 stage points, or 16 plus the Fastest Lap point, and take a top-five finish in Stage 1.

O'Reilly Series: five drivers in the hunt

Justin Allgaier can take a second title on his own by scoring 54 points, whatever his rivals do. NASCAR said he would lose a tiebreaker to any of the four other contenders, since each has won at least once in the postseason.

The other four are Love, Day, Kvapil and Creed. Love and Day can each win it outright with a maximum 76-point day that includes the Fastest Lap point. Kvapil and Creed need other results to go their way.

Truck Series: Honeycutt and Riggs

Kaden Honeycutt can clinch with 55 points whatever his competitors do, and he takes every tiebreaker provided he finishes in the top three. Layne Riggs can clinch with 75 points. Were he to win the race, the only tiebreaker he could lose is one where Honeycutt came second or third.
