The short answer

Zach Bates has agreed a multi-year contract to stay with Matt Stone Racing into the 2027 Supercars season, according to Supercars. Naming rights partner Bendix has also extended its agreement with the team.

Matt Stone Racing has re-signed Zach Bates on a multi-year deal, keeping the 22-year-old Canberran in a full-time Supercars seat for 2027. The deal follows his breakthrough at the Repco Bathurst 1000, where he started from pole and finished third.

Bates won the 2024 Super2 title and reached the Top Ten Shootout on his Supercars debut at Ipswich last year. This season he has made the top ten in qualifying eight times and sits 16th in the points standings. The series describes him as one of its leading young prospects.

Bendix, the team's naming rights partner, has also extended its deal with Matt Stone Racing. The company first joined the team in 2024, the season Nick Percat took two wins.

Jack Le Brocq, Bates's teammate, is expected to stay with the team in 2027. He made the Finals Series in his first year with the team since 2023.

What the team said

Bates said he was grateful to Matt Stone and the team for the step into a full-time seat, and that he wanted to build on the Bathurst result. Stone said Bates had shown plenty of potential in his first season and that the Bathurst weekend was a just reward for driver and team alike.

The series next heads to Sandown for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, where running begins on Friday.
