Kia America has simplified the plug-in hybrid lineup to a single top trim that adds a head-up display and machined wood trim.
Kia America has cut the 2027 Sorento plug-in hybrid to one trim, the fully loaded X-Line SX-Prestige. A head-up display joins the trim, which also comes with a combined Level 1 and Level 2 charging cable as standard. MSRP excludes a $1,495 destination charge.
Kia has condensed the 2027 Sorento plug-in hybrid lineup into a single top grade, the X-Line SX-Prestige, which the company describes as fully loaded. For the new model year, the company says the plug-in hybrid has a simplified trim lineup.
The top-level trim gains X-Line embossed front seat backs and machined wood inlays across the dashboard and door panels. These join existing trim, including dark gunmetal lower bumper trim, grille and lower door garnish, glossy black window surround, mirror caps, a black 19-inch wheel without machine finish and black glossy and gunmetal fender garnish.
The roof rails are included, but crossbars and roof rack attachments are sold separately. Kia also reminds drivers to carry cargo safely.
Kia has also added a head-up display to the condensed trim. A footnote on the feature warns that inattention to road conditions and how the car is operated could cost a driver control of the vehicle.
Pricing and charging
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Trim | X-Line SX-Prestige, the only trim offered |
| Charging cable | Combined Level 1 and Level 2 cable, standard |
| Head-up display | Added to the trim |
| Destination charge | $1,495, excluded from MSRP |
Kia's MSRP does not cover destination and handling, tax, title or licence fees, options, or retailer charges. The company says retailers set the actual price, which may vary.
The combined cable lets owners charge from a standard household outlet at Level 1 or from a faster Level 2 connection, which the company says adds flexibility when charging availability varies.
Kia America context
Kia America is headquartered in Irvine, California. It sells through close to 800 dealers across the United States, and several of its SUVs are described as assembled in America.
The footnote names the 2026 and 2027 EV6, EV9, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride as US-assembled, with parts sourced in America and abroad. It excludes the Sportage plug-in hybrid and the Sorento hybrid and plug-in hybrid from that list.
The company says it continues to top automotive quality surveys and was named by TIME as one of the most sustainable companies of 2026. Its line-up runs from petrol models to hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles.
