The 2022-2026 seven-seat minivans may have second-row seat backs that fail to stay secured in a crash.
Toyota is recalling 228,367 Sienna Hybrid minivans from the 2022-2026 model years in the United States. The second-row seat backs may fail to stay secured in a crash. Dealers will update the airbag control software free of charge, and owner letters are expected on 7 December 2026.
Toyota has told US safety regulators that the second-row seat backs in some Sienna Hybrid minivans may not hold in a crash. The company is recalling 228,367 vehicles, and the fix for most of them is a software update rather than new hardware.
Which Siennas are affected
The campaign covers certain 2022-2026 Sienna Hybrid seven-passenger vehicles. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing filed the report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on 20 October 2026, and the agency has logged it as campaign 26V690.
The filing puts the problem in the reclining mechanism of the middle-row seats. According to the summary, a seat back that is not secured may fail to protect an occupant properly during a crash, which raises the risk of injury.

What dealers will do
For most of the vehicles the repair is a software update to the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit, the module that governs the airbags and related safety equipment. The work is free of charge.
A smaller group is treated differently. Vehicles fitted with the Mobility as a Service package, which Toyota's paperwork refers to as MaaS, will have both second-row seat backs replaced by dealers, again at no cost to the owner.
The recall record does not carry a park-outside or do-not-drive advisory, and it does not list an over-the-air update as the remedy, so owners will need a dealer visit once the letters arrive.
