Too few drain holes in the tailgate trim can let water pool and damage the rearview camera on 2022-2026 models.
Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 93,997 Range Rover models from the 2022-2026 model years in the United States. Water cannot drain away from the rearview camera because there are too few drain holes. Dealers will drill more holes and replace the camera if needed.
Land Rover is recalling 93,997 Range Rovers in the US over a design detail most owners will never have seen: the drain holes behind the tailgate trim. According to the company's filing, there are not enough of them, so water can sit around the rearview camera and damage it.
What goes wrong
The campaign covers certain 2022-2026 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover North America reported it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on 15 October 2026, and the agency lists it as campaign 26V678 under back-over prevention, camera.
A camera that fails to show an image takes away the driver's view behind the car. NHTSA's consequence statement says that increases the risk of a crash, which is why the fault counts as a safety defect and not just a nuisance.

The repair
Dealers will drill extra drain holes in the underside of the tailgate trim. They will also inspect the rearview camera and replace it where necessary. All of the work is free of charge.
Interim letters telling owners about the safety risk are expected to be mailed on 11 December 2026, and further letters will follow once the final remedy is available.
