The driver or front passenger seat back may have insufficient welds; dealers will replace the seat back frames free of charge.
General Motors has filed a recall for four 2026 Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles in the United States, campaign 26V696. Welds joining the seat back recliner pivot to the seat frame bracket may be insufficient on the driver or front passenger seat. The fix is replacement seat back frames at no cost.
GM has told the US safety regulator it is recalling four 2026 Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists the recall under campaign number 26V696, with the component given as seats.
GM said the driver or front passenger seat could have too few welds at the point where the recliner pivot mechanism of the seat back joins a bracket on the seat frame.
The risk
According to the recall filing, a seat with weak welds might not hold an occupant as intended in a crash, which raises the risk of injury. The record states that there is no park-it-outside advisory and no do-not-drive advisory.
The fix
The remedy is a dealer replacement of the affected seat back frames, driver or front passenger side, at no cost to owners. The record says the remedy is not an over-the-air update.
