The short answer

General Motors is recalling 12,715 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles from 2025 and 2026. Owners face a risk of losing steering control if a loose nut comes away while the vehicle is being driven. Dealers will check the serial number and swap the steering gear where needed, at no charge.

General Motors, LLC is recalling 12,715 vehicles in the United States: certain 2025 and 2026 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana models. The steering gear assembly may have a nut that was not properly tightened.

NHTSA's campaign number is 26V718. The notice warns that such a nut can separate from the assembly while the vehicle is being driven, which can cause a loss of steering control and raise the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will check the serial number and swap the steering gear assembly where needed, at no charge to owners. Letters to owners are expected in the post on December 14, 2026. Owners can ring GMC customer service on 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service on 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262579350.
