The short answer

The BMW Group says its deliveries rose in Europe and the US in the first nine months of 2026, by 4.5% and 3.4% respectively, while China declined. Between July and the end of September, the group delivered 110,257 fully electric vehicles worldwide, up 7.2%. Electric cars made up 34.7% of its European deliveries in the third quarter.

The BMW Group grew its deliveries in Europe and the US over the first nine months of 2026, although the company's business in China fell sharply. Across the period it delivered 1,707,799 vehicles worldwide, a 4.9% decline overall. The company points to difficult market conditions and says its business in China remained challenging.

Electric cars lead the growth

The most striking figure is the electric share in Europe. In the third quarter, one in three BMW Group vehicles delivered to customers there was fully electric. Electric deliveries in Europe rose disproportionately in the quarter, to 81,941 units, and the company says its fully electric models grew 38.5% in Germany.

BMW says its new iX3 has taken more than 100,000 orders in Europe within a year of launch, which it describes as the most successful market launch of any BMW Group model so far. The China-built version of the iX3 begins rolling out there in November.

BMW brand sales fell 6.4% to around 1.5 million vehicles over the nine months, but the brand grew 1.4% in Europe and 4.3% in the US. The company credits the US growth to higher sales of its X models. In China, BMW brand sales dropped 21.2% for the year to September.

MINI's growth was partly helped by its John Cooper Works models and a Paul Smith edition, and the company expects further impetus from the new Countryman Untamed Edition. BMW M GmbH delivered 148,510 vehicles in the first nine months, down 6.1%, with sales holding up in the declining Chinese market.

The figures are provisional and may change before the BMW Group Report 2026 is published, the company says. Jochen Goller, the board member responsible for customers, brands and sales, said the group held its position in Europe and the US in tough conditions, and that the Neue Klasse models give it a stronger footing for the challenges ahead.
