Fleet operators' real-world experience put the British-built Corolla top of the FN50 reliability ranking.
Toyota says the FN50 award, based on fleet operators' real-world experience, ranks the Corolla first for reliability. The ranking reflects the number of days vehicles spent off the road over the past 12 months. It is built at Toyota's Burnaston plant in Derbyshire.
Toyota says its British-built Corolla is the nation's most reliable car, according to the Fleet News FN50 Reliability Awards. The company describes it as one of many awards the current Corolla has received.
How the award is decided
Toyota stresses that the FN50 result is not the opinion of expert judges. It draws on what business fleet operators across the country have experienced, and it counts the days their cars sat off the road over the previous 12 months.
Where the cars are built
Toyota links the result to the quality standards it maintains at its Burnaston plant in Derbyshire. Burnaston builds the Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports, plus the Corolla Commercial hybrid van, and it is the European production centre for those models.
Why reliability matters to fleets
Toyota says dependability ranks at the top of what fleet customers look for, since they need vehicles that keep working day after day. The company adds that its warranty reinforces that confidence.
Warranty cover
The cover starts with an initial three-year manufacturer warranty on a new vehicle. After that, service-activated warranty can add up to a further seven years, which takes the total to as much as 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Once the new car warranty period expires, a car that has been serviced in a qualifying way at an authorised Toyota workshop can gain a further 12 months, or 10,000 miles, of cover. Toyota says the cover comes at no added charge, up to that 10-year or 100,000-mile limit.
The company notes that terms and conditions apply and that full details are available on its UK website.
