The short answer

The 2027 Sequoia gains a factory-built Trailhunter off-road package, a revised TRD Pro suspension and expanded trailer driver aids for the model year. Toyota says the SUV starts at $69,900 and should reach dealers in the fall of 2026, with the Trailhunter available on the SR5 trim.

Toyota has updated its full-size Sequoia for the 2027 model year, adding a factory-built off-road package and a longer list of trailer aids. The company says the updated SUV starts at a $69,900 MSRP and is expected at dealerships in the fall of 2026.

Trailhunter and TRD Pro

The Trailhunter package is new for the Sequoia. It is built on the SR5 trim and adds upgraded suspension, an underbody skid plate, front recovery hooks and aggressive trail tyres. Bronze-coloured wheels and unique badging set it apart, and Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select and a locking rear differential help it cope with rough ground.

The TRD Pro grade gets a suspension update for 2027. Toyota says its newly designed adjustable shocks, made for the Sequoia, improve stability and let drivers tune the damping for desert running or rocky trails. Red tow hooks are now standard on the TRD Pro, and a new colour called Honeycomb is available.

Every 2027 Sequoia uses Toyota's i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 comes as standard. The trailer systems are the bigger change. Automated Trailer Detection uses rear radar and a camera to find a trailer and measure it, then feeds the details into a redesigned Trailer Garage menu. That menu has moved from the instrument cluster to the multimedia screen.

Trailer Blind Spot Monitor extends its detection zone to cover the length of the trailer. Trailer Lane Trace Assist is a towing version of the standard system, and it can also compensate when lanes split and manage uneven roads. The Trailer Backup Guide now shows dynamic on-screen guidelines, offers a slider and semi-automated steering support, and helps detect jackknife risk.

New for 2027 is an Advanced Rear Seat Reminder. A millimetre-wave radar hidden in the headliner can, under certain circumstances, detect movement in the second and third rows after the driver has parked, switched off and got out. If it does, it can escalate through hazard lights, chimes and the horn. With an active Safety Connect trial or subscription, it can also send app notifications, texts and an automated phone call.

Grades and warranty

All grades get a 14-inch touchscreen as standard, along with a 12.3-inch digital meter. The system includes a built-in dash cam with playback on the screen, and Digital Key works through a Remote Connect trial or subscription.
