Renault India has opened bookings at INR 21,000 and set 17 October for the official market debut of the E-Tech 160.
Renault India announced on 9 October 2026 that the new Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/litre. Bookings opened that day for INR 21,000. The 160 PS SUV, Renault's first E-Tech model in India, was set for its official market debut and full reveal on 17 October.
Renault has put a number on the Duster hybrid before showing the car in full. On 9 October 2026, the company's Indian arm said the new Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 returns 29 km/litre on the ARAI test, and it opened bookings the same day.
Bookings and timing
Customers can reserve the SUV for INR 21,000, online through Renault India or in person at any of its authorised dealerships nationwide. Renault set 17 October 2026 for the official market debut and full reveal in India, so the booking window opened ahead of the car's formal arrival.
How the powertrain works
The strong-hybrid system combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, for a combined output of 160 PS. An intelligent multi-mode transmission manages the petrol engine and the electric motors according to driving conditions.
Renault says the car can move on electric power when conditions allow, recover energy as it slows, and change between electric and combustion propulsion. The battery charges while the car is driven, so it never needs to be plugged into an external charging source. Renault says it tuned the setup to balance performance against economy and to keep the changes between operating modes smooth.
Aimed at diesel buyers
Renault is pitching the car at customers who would otherwise look at a diesel SUV, a group that has traditionally wanted both performance and economy. The company says the combination of 160 PS and 29 km/litre speaks to both points.
Renault's futuREady roadmap for India puts this Duster first in line for E-Tech technology. The company calls that an important step in its electrification journey in the country.

Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Renault Group India, said the arrival of the company's E-Tech technology from Europe matters to the business. In his view Indian SUV buyers should not have to pick between performance and economy, and he said the company was pleased to take bookings ahead of the debut.
