Ford recalls 102,159 F-Series trucks over faulty speedometer and tachometer

The analog instrument cluster on certain F-150, Super Duty, F-600 and F-750 trucks can stick or swing about, so the driver may be shown the wrong speed.

The short answer

Ford is recalling 102,159 trucks in the United States: certain 2025-2026 F-250 to F-550 Super Duty, F-600 and F-750 models and 2026 F-150s. The analog tachometer and speedometer may stick or move erratically. Dealers will fit new instrument clusters free of charge, with the remedy expected in December 2026.

A speedometer that cannot be trusted is a problem on any truck, and Ford has now put 102,159 of them into a US recall. The fault sits in the analog instrument cluster, where the tachometer and speedometer needles may stick or move erratically, handing the driver inaccurate readings.

The campaign was published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on 20 October 2026 as number 26V653, and Ford calls it 26C46.

Which trucks are affected

The recall is wide, running from the half-ton F-150 up to the medium-duty models. Ford lists certain 2025-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD and F-600 trucks, together with certain 2026 F-150 and F-750 SD vehicles.

Why it counts as a safety recall

Ford's filing says the trucks fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 101, which covers controls and displays. A gauge that cannot show true road speed, it adds, can raise the risk of a crash.

The component is listed under the electrical system, specifically the instrument cluster and panel. The record does not tell owners to park the trucks, and it carries no instruction to keep them outside.

The fix and the timeline

Dealers will swap the instrument cluster modules at no charge. The new parts are not ready, though. Ford expects the remedy to be available in December 2026.

In the meantime, interim letters warning owners of the safety risk were due to be mailed on 26 October 2026, with a second round to follow once the repair can be booked. The vehicle identification numbers covered by the recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on 7 October 2026, so owners can check a specific truck online.
