Volkswagen has revealed the all-electric ID. Tiguan, which succeeds the ID.4 and ID.5 in early 2027 with a WLTP range of up to 600 km.
Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Tiguan, an all-electric mid-size SUV that succeeds the ID.4 and ID.5. The strongest version makes 220 kW (299 PS), WLTP ranges reach up to 600 km and towing is up to 2,000 kg. Pre-sales start in Germany and many other European countries on 13 October, from 42,695 euros, ahead of the early 2027 launch.
Volkswagen has presented the ID. Tiguan as a new electric SUV in the high-volume mid-size class, taking over from the ID.4 and ID.5. The reveal came on 9 October, and the company describes the model as one of its most important electric vehicles for the years ahead. The ID. Tiguan launches in early 2027, alongside the current petrol, diesel and hybrid Tiguan. Volkswagen says more than 950,000 units of the ID.4 and ID.5 have been built.
Range, power and towing
Three performance levels are offered. The entry version is rear-wheel drive with 140 kW (190 PS) and a 58 kWh battery. A second rear-wheel drive version has 210 kW (286 PS) and a 77 kWh battery. The top version is a 4MOTION all-wheel drive model rated at 220 kW (299 PS), which also uses the 77 kWh battery. WLTP ranges reach up to 600 km depending on battery size. Towing capacity is 1,800 kg for the smaller battery and 2,000 kg for the larger one.
Design and interior
Volkswagen says the exterior uses its Pure Positive design language, with a more powerful SUV look and a return to pull-style door handles. The cabin has a 12-inch co-driver display, a 10-inch Digital Cockpit and a 15-inch central infotainment screen. The co-driver display can be set to a privacy mode that keeps it out of the driver's view, and the passenger can listen through paired Bluetooth headphones. Basic air conditioning functions and the steering wheel use physical buttons again. The Retro display option shows a Golf IV style instrument view, and the central screen offers a virtual garage of six Volkswagen models.
Driver assistance and practicality
One-pedal driving is standard. Connected Travel Assist adds assisted lane changes on motorways and can stop the car automatically at red traffic lights. Optional equipment includes ventilated and massaging front seats, a 480-watt sound system and a panoramic sunroof. The frunk offers 32 litres of storage, the boot holds up to 534 litres, and the Digital Key can be shared with family, friends or colleagues through the Volkswagen app. A power socket adapter plugs into the charging socket to run appliances, which the company gives as examples of electric grills and e-bikes.
Pre-sales start on 13 October in Germany and many other European countries, at prices from 42,695 euros. The line-up has four trims: Trend, Life, Style and R-Line. The company says the model is made in Germany at Emden.
