Volkswagen says the four-model Electric Urban Car Family has almost 150,000 orders before deliveries have begun, and all four are built in Spain.
Four small electric models from CUPRA, Volkswagen and Skoda are on show together in Paris for the first time. Volkswagen says almost 150,000 orders have been received for the Electric Urban Car Family, which uses the MEB+ platform. The CUPRA Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo are made in Martorell, and the Skoda Epiq and ID. Cross in Pamplona.
Four small electric cars from three brands are presented together in Paris, the first time the four models appear as one family. The family groups the CUPRA Raval, the Volkswagen ID. Polo, the Skoda Epiq and the Volkswagen ID. Cross, which Volkswagen says are already in high demand even before deliveries have begun. Almost 150,000 orders have been received so far.
From a shared aim to four models
The project began with one goal: make electric mobility accessible to a larger group of customers. Under the leadership of SEAT and CUPRA, the Brand Group Core pooled the expertise of its brands and partners into one cluster for electric cars in the small car segment. The outcome is four separate models on a common technical basis, aimed at a segment that is central to the European market and expanding quickly.
All four are built on the MEB+ platform, which gives them front-wheel drive, a common electric drivetrain and batteries, and therefore similar efficiency and range. Volkswagen says over 80 percent of parts and technologies are identical across the family, which helps development, procurement and production. Design, driving experience, functionality and brand character remain distinct for each model.
Production and investment in Spain
Martorell builds the CUPRA Raval and the Volkswagen ID. Polo, while Pamplona builds the two electric SUVs: Skoda's Epiq and Volkswagen's ID. Cross. Volkswagen describes the two sites as one Iberian production region that builds all four models, building on the group's multi-brand product approach and a deep industrial base.
The group ties the family to a wider investment programme. SEAT and CUPRA, Brand Group Core, PowerCo and partners in the 'Future Fast Forward' initiative are investing ten billion euros in Spain. Among them is PowerCo's battery cell factory in Sagunto, alongside an extra 300 million euros from SEAT and CUPRA for a battery system assembly plant at Martorell. Volkswagen says SEAT and CUPRA have invested three billion euros in the move from combustion engines to electric mobility.
The models were first shown at IAA Mobility 2025 as camouflaged prototypes and show cars. Thomas Schafer, a Volkswagen Group board member who leads the Volkswagen brand and Brand Group Core, describes the family as a new strategy for volume segments. He says it shows how a European industrial base can deliver affordable electric mobility.
