CUPRA KIRO has revealed its challenger for Formula E's GEN4 era at the Paris Motor Show, with Pepe Marti and Jake Hughes driving. Formula E says the car can exceed 335kph and produces up to 600kW in Attack Mode, 71% more than GEN3 Evo. The team says it has a real chance to compete at the front.
CUPRA KIRO has revealed its challenger for the GEN4 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, unveiling the car at the Paris Motor Show. The new livery keeps the fluorescent yellow that has defined the team since Kiro Race Co and CUPRA began their co-title partnership in 2024. The design takes on a sharper character, with bold lines and the copper tones of the CUPRA brand.
Pepe Marti and Jake Hughes will drive the car. Formula E describes the pair as a mix of experience, youth and raw speed, and the team says its technical package and driver line-up give it a real shot at the front of the grid.
What GEN4 brings
Formula E describes GEN4 as the quickest era the series has seen. The car is capable of more than 335kph and takes about 1.8 seconds to reach 100kph from rest. It reaches 200kph in 4.4 seconds, which Formula E says is 1.5 seconds quicker than its predecessor.
In race mode, GEN4 gives 50% more power than the GEN3 Evo race car currently in use. In Attack Mode it produces up to 600kW, which is 71% more than the base output of GEN3 Evo. In qualifying mode, the car is expected to be around 10 seconds a lap quicker than GEN3.
Formula E also says GEN4 is the only single-seater with permanent all-wheel drive. The GEN4 era opens with the 2026/27 season, and the championship has published the calendar for it.
Team and drivers
Team principal Russell O'Hagan called the unveiling a significant moment for the whole team. He said the organisation has made improvements to almost every area over the past year, and that the competition will be very strong, so the team wants to challenge and establish itself as a contender.
O'Hagan said the car and the driver line-up give the team a real shot at the front, and that he cannot wait to see what it can achieve once racing begins later this year. The team has spent the past year preparing across the whole organisation, and the reveal is the first point at which that work is put to the test.
