The short answer

Audi says its new RS 5 has sold out its entire 2026 production, and European orders were nearly twice as high as expected. Sales now start in Australia and New Zealand, then Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Audi is also showcasing the car at the Singapore Grand Prix, the first Formula 1 night race of the season.

Audi announced on 7 October that its RS 5 has started sales outside Europe, after the full 2026 annual production sold out. Sales are launching first in Australia and New Zealand, with Japan starting at the same time and Korea, Taiwan and other overseas markets to follow. The company also says orders in Europe were nearly twice as high as it first expected.

Specification and background

Audi calls the RS 5 the first high-performance plug-in hybrid from Audi Sport, with an output of 470 kW (639 hp). The car was unveiled in February 2026. Orders opened in Germany early in 2026, and deliveries there began in June, with other European countries following gradually. The RS 5 is built at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm. Audi says the model brings electrification and performance together, and that no RS model has had such a successful market launch before.

Singapore colour and race cars

For the Singapore Grand Prix, the car is shown in a special colour inspired by Singapore at night. Audi says its bluish shimmer is drawn from twilight and from the lights of the buildings at Marina Bay, and that the visual effect changes as the car moves. Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto drive two Audi R26 race cars in the same colour, with a livery that draws on Peranakan tile patterns. Audi says the colour was developed for the event and is not available to order.

The RS 5 will also appear in this colour at Funan Mall, near the race track entrance, and at Audi's House of Progress on Cross Street. Race-week fan activities include culinary collaborations, a community run and public viewings.

Formula 1 showcase

The RS 5 Sedan has served as a Hot Lap car since the Miami Grand Prix, and the RS 5 Avant since the British Grand Prix. Hot Lap guests ride as passengers alongside professional race drivers. This year Audi made its Formula 1 debut as a works team, with a hybrid powertrain developed in Germany. Singapore hosts Formula 1's first night race of the year, the company says.
