BMW has added an M Performance version of the fully electric iX3, with 450 kW output, a 3.9 second 0 to 100 km/h time and orders opening at the end of January 2027.
BMW unveiled the iX3 M60 xDrive on 8 October, the most powerful version of its fully electric Neue Klasse SUV. It has a motor on each axle, a maximum output of 450 kW (612 hp) and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds. Orders open at the end of January 2027, the company says.
BMW presented the iX3 M60 xDrive on 8 October as the most potent member of its fully electric Neue Klasse SUV range. Described by the company as an M Performance model, it puts one electric motor on each axle and delivers 450 kW/612 hp at its peak, and needs 3.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill. Orders open at the end of January 2027.
Power, range and charging
The high-voltage battery offers 108.7 kWh of usable energy, and gives a WLTP range of as much as 754 km (468 miles). BMW gives electric power consumption of 20.5 to 17.6 kWh per 100 km. Peak torque is 875 Nm, and the top speed is 240 km/h. The new sixth-generation rear motor, which is electrically excited, has a more powerful inverter, which the company says allows higher peak and continuous output.
BMW says the maximum DC charging rate is 400 kW, and that ten minutes at an 800V fast-charging station adds up to 340 km of range. AC charging at up to 22 kW is standard. The sixth-generation drive system also supports bidirectional charging, and the company says it offers higher range and faster charging than the previous generation.
Chassis, styling and cabin
As standard the car has adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio sport steering and an M Sport differential on the rear axle, which is electronically controlled. It rides on 21-inch M light-alloy wheels, and 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels are offered on this model only. The front end carries M Yellow Lights, which BMW links to racing cars such as the BMW M Hybrid V8. The rear has an M60 badge and an M-specific roof spoiler with two aeroblades.
Inside, the car has a 17.9-inch central display, M Sport seats with a massage function, and an M-specific instrument display that shows the power in use and the rate of energy recuperation. The standard hi-fi system has 13 speakers and 430 watts of output. BMW describes the car as having SAE Level 2 driver assistance, and says its Motorway Assistant works without hands on the wheel on motorways at up to 130 km/h. The company also says the Heart of Joy computer controls drive, braking, steering, charging and recuperation, and works ten times faster than previous systems.
Production and orders
Production starts in spring 2027 at the Debrecen plant in Hungary. Orders open at the end of January 2027, and the paint range at launch includes 25 special-request finishes, with more to follow. BMW describes the fully electric iX3 as the first Neue Klasse model, and this M Performance version as the most dynamic addition to the range so far.
